A month or so back I started a chain of guest blogs with some like-minded friends of mine. The idea is that we take it in turns to write articles and share them on each other’s websites.
Each of the people involved maintain regular blogs and fit into the broad category of being “adventurers”. So, instead of having our heads buried in the sand the whole time, operating in isolation, we’re joining forces when it comes to blogging. It’s a simple take-one-and-pass-it-on affair.
The result for readers of this site is that once every month or two, you’ll get a new post by a cool adventurer that you may not have heard of before and links back to their own websites and the previous articles in the chain if you fancy having a look around at who else is out there.
As well as being a great way to keep us writing fresh stuff and introduce our readers to other adventure blogs, I particlarly like the communal aspect of it, so often neglected in an age of increasing individualism. Indeed, that’s what I wrote the first article in the chain about.
You can check if there have been any recent posts in the Adventurer’s Blogging Chain here on Twitter (for knowledgeable Twitter users, you’re looking for the hashtag #advbc) – the most recent was a piece on teamwork by ocean rower Sarah Outen – or you can just follow the chain. At the bottom of each post, there will be a link to the previous article and the host of the next one.
Tomorrow it will be my first turn to host an adventurer from the chain and I am excited about it. Dan Martin is preparing for what is, in this writer’s opinion, the most audacious expedition in recent times – The Global Triathlon – and his article will be published here at 9am sharp.
