In September 2009, my good friend Rob Cousins completed a triathlon inspired by Wainwright’s Coast-to-Coast. It was a trip entirely of his own which comprised a 25-mile cross-country run, 5 miles swimming the length of Coniston Water and biking 160 miles to the east coast.
He’d been preparing for this event ever since I’ve known him and I had the privilege of driving his support vehicle and cooking his porridge in the mornings.
