When the committee received the application for an overland journey from London to Singapore we quibbled a little.
The charter said that supported expeditions needed to be challenging and have the possibility of failure as well as success. Where was the challenge in simply travelling somewhere?
Then we looked a little closer.
These guys had indeed set themselves a neat little challenge: they would get to Singapore by emiting less carbon than they would be plane and – this is the best bit – by spending less money than it would cost them to get the cheapest available air fare.
You can find out how they fared on their website.
