This morning I am flying to Budapest ahead of the weekend’s Balaton-átúszás: the annual swimming race across Lake Balaton. It’s about 5km and my wife, Laura, is taking part. Apparently the water is positively balmy at the moment.
Sadly, my shoulder is still a long way from front crawling after an operation in February (part of the reason we haven’t been able to continue any further along the Thames so far this year) so there’s no fear of me embarrassing her by achieving hypothermia despite the weather.
I’ll let you know how we get on with Twitter and you can read more about the swim on the Balaton-átúszás website.

Enjoy Hungary – one of my very favourite countries in Europe.

Good luck to Laura. Playing the guitar and swimming are two things I have not tried hard enough to learn.
